DLSA celebrates Legal Services Day at Ganderbal

GANDERBAL, November 09: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Ganderbal, observed National Legal Services Day today, marking the culmination of the week-long celebration of Legal Services Week from November 3rd to November 9th.

The programme was observed under the  guidance of Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority,  Amit Gupta, under the Chairmanship of Principal District & Sessions Judge, Ritesh Kumar Dubey, and under the supervision of Secretary/Civil Judge (Sr. Division),  Nusrat Ali Hakak and Chairman TLSC Ganderbal, Mohammad Waseem Mirza.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were  Ritesh Kumar Dubey Principal District & Sessions Judge & Chairman DLSA Ganderbal who joined virtually, Nusrat Ali Hakak, Sub-Judge/ Secretary DLSA Ganderbal,  Mainaaz Qadir, Munsiff/Civil Judge, Ld. Advocate, Syed Haidar Salathi, President of Bar Association Ganderbal, Ld. Senior Advocate, Shabir Ahmad Masoodi, Ld. Panel Lawyers DLSA Ganderbal, Staff members, DLSA Ganderbal,  PLVS of DLSA Ganderbal, students and faculty members from Vijay Memorial public School.

Throughout the week, DLSA Ganderbal, TLSC Ganderbal and TLSC Kangan organized various activities aimed at raising awareness about legal services and providing essential legal support and assistance to the people of the district.

The efforts put forth during this event aimed to educate the community about their rights, empower them to seek justice, and promote access to justice for all.

The activities conducted during Legal Services Week were diverse and included deployment of mobile van for spreading legal awareness & Mass Door to Door awareness campaigns, in far flung areas of the District, Debate on legal services among students, painting competitions on the subject e.t.c

These initiatives aimed to bridge the gap between the people and the legal system by providing information, guidance, and support on various legal matters. Citizens were encouraged to actively participate in the events and take advantage of the available legal services.

Through this comprehensive week-long celebration, DLSA Ganderbal, TLSC Ganderbal and TLSC Kangan strived to enhance legal literacy, promote equal access to justice, and highlight the importance of legal services in the community.

Today, in presence of Chairman, Secretary, Additional Mobile Magistrate, Bar President, Sr. Advocate, panely lawyers, staff members etc, District court Ganderbal celebrated National Legal Services Day with full fervor at the conference hall of the district court Ganderbal.

As part of the celebration, a speech competition was conducted on spot among the students who had joined there from Vijay Memorial School, and appreciation certificates were also distributed among the winners of the speech and painting competition. These young talents showcased their creativity and knowledge on legal subjects, contributing to the overall success of the event.

In addition, special appreciation certificates were also presented to social activist Bilal Ahmad Bhat for his contribution to DLSA and for his remarkable dedication towards the cause.

Advocate Syed Haidar Salathi,  Senior Advocate, Shabir Ahmad Masoodi, Panel Lawyer Adv. Ghulam Rasool Rather also spoke on the occasion and recognized the sincere and endless efforts of DLSA Ganderbal in dispensation of justice.

To conclude the event, the Secretary DLSA Ganderbal highlighted the significance of Legal Services Day, underscoring the crucial role it plays in promoting justice, equality, and access to legal aid for all members of society.

It is worth mentioning that the Para Legal Volunteer from DLSA Ganderbal, Sharjeel Bin Hassan has been selected as the best PLV in the whole Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh based on his commendable hard work.
