DLSA conducts gender-based legal awareness programme at Bandipora
BANDIPORA, March 07: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora in collaboration with NALSA and National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday organized a one day legal awareness programme on family Laws, rights of women, gender-based discriminations etc at Govt. Higher Secondary School Nadihal Bandipora.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of Chairman DLSA and Principal District and Sessions Judge Amit Sharma and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA Bandipora, Nusrat Ali Hakak.
The programme was inaugurated by Secretary, DLSA Nusrat Ali Hakak along with Principal GHSS Nadihal.
The programme started with the introductory speech given by Secretary DLSA Bandipora. She said that the noble objective of this programme is to promote gender equality enshrined in the Indian Constitution in its Preamble and to adopt measures of positive discrimination in favour of women.
She also made the gathering aware of the various machineries/ organs of the Justice delivery system available for redressal of their problems/grievances.
The programme consisted of two sessions. In the first session Adv. Aamir Shafi Panel Lawyer resource person delivered a lecture on the topics Marriage & Divorce, Maintenance Laws, Women Right to Property, Domestic Violence, On the topics Dowry Death & Acid Attack, Outraging Modesty of Women, Kidnapping & Abduction and Rape, Sexual Assault & POCSO.
The second session was carried out by Resource Person Advocate Iqbal Rubbani Panel Lawyer DLSA Bandipora Prevention of Sexual Harassment at work place, Maternity Benefit Act, Factories Act, Equal Remuneration Act and Women and Reproductive Health Rights and Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act and PNDT Act.
In the end of the programme booklets/pamphlets were distributed among the participants and general discussion and question & answer sessions were also held.
The programme was attended by Female Teachers, Anganwadi Workers/ Helpers, Staff members of the said school, Staff members of DLSA and PLVs.
