DLSA discusses modalities for expansion of Jail projects in Kathua district
KATHUA, MAY 09: As per the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in WP (C) No. 406 of 2013 titled ‘Re-inhuman Condition in 1382 prisons Vs Union of India and Ors’ and also under the able guidance of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Kathua (Principal District & Sessions Judge Kathua), Ashok Kumar Shavan, District Monitoring Committee Kathua met today at Conference Hall, ADR Centre here today.
The meeting was chaired by Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kathua (also Principal District and Sessions Judge Kathua). The main objective of the meeting was to examine the requirement of expanding the existing Jails and acquiring land to set up new Jails within District Kathua, depending on the current capacity, occupancy and future demands and come up with firm proposal, to update on the status of all the ongoing projects/proposals that are pending in the District Kathua.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ranjit Singh, on behalf of District Magistrate Dr Rakesh Minhas, Secretary DLSA Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua Shivdeep Singh Jamwal, and Superintendent District Jail Kathua Koushal Kumar, also joined the meeting as members.
