DLSA Ganderbal organizes awareness Prog on “Solid Waste Management”
GANDERBAL, March 25: District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, in collaboration with Municipal Council Ganderbal and Pollution Control Committee Ganderbal, today, organized an awareness programme on solid waste Management at the Conference Hall of District Court Ganderbal.
This was the last day of three-days long campaign on Solid Waste Management which started on 23rd March.
The programme was held under the supervision of Executive Chairman J&K Legal Services Authority, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Ms. Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, Administrative Judge for District Ganderbal, Member Secretary J&K Legal Services Authority, Amit Kumar Gupta, and under the guidance of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, Mr. Ritesh Kumar Dubey, and Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, Ms. Nusrat Ali Hakak.
The event aimed to educate and encourage the participants to adopt sustainable practices in managing solid waste.
The programme was attended by Gulafroz Khan Legal Assistant, DLSA Ganderbal, Bilal Ahmad, Divisional Officer of Pollution Control Committee Ganderbal, Social Activist, Bilal Bhat, Law Students of Central University Tulmulla Ganderbal, staff members of Pollution Control Committee & Municipal Council Ganderbal and PLVs of DLSA Ganderbal.
The programme was spearheaded by advocate Abid Jeelani, who highlighted the importance of proper waste disposal and management and the negative impacts of improper practices on the environment and public health.
Gulafroz Khan, Legal Assistant, DLSA Ganderbal, emphasized the need to reduce, reuse and recycle waste materials as a part of sustainable waste management practices. She further outlined the legal framework and regulations concerning solid waste management that must be adhered to by all stakeholders.
Bilal Ahmad, Divisional Officer of Pollution Control Committee encouraged everyone to be more responsible and take active steps to ensure proper waste disposal and management practices are implemented.
Bilal Bhat, Social Activist also spoke on the occasion and said that the authorities aim to promote the segregation of waste at the source, reduce waste generation, maximize resource recovery through recycling and composting, and ensure the safe disposal of residual waste.
The primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for the present and future generations by minimizing the negative impacts of waste on human health, natural resources, and the environment.
Students enthusiastically participated and highlighting the importance of environmental sustainability and waste management laws and regulations and their enforcement.
The main objective of DLSA Ganderbal is to educate people in order to raise their consciousness about the importance of proper solid waste management and to encourage individuals and communities to adopt sustainable waste management practices that minimize the adverse effects of waste on human health and the environment.
