DLSA Kathua orgainses 4th National Lok Adalat
Six benches settle 641 cases, realize settlement amount of Rs over Rs 1.55 crore
KATHUA, December 09: Under the insightful directions of Mr. Justice Tashi Rabstan, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority and also under the radiant guidance of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Kathua), Ashok Kumar Shavan, 4th National Lok Adalat of the calendar year 2023 was today held at District Court Complex Kathua.
The National Lok Adalat was formally inaugurated by Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua Ashok Kumar Shavan, (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Kathua) with lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
In his address to the mammoth gathering, the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua threw light on the purpose of holding 4th National Lok Adalat.
Six Benches for settling the referred cases were constituted in which Bench No. 1 was comprising of Ashok Kumar Shavan, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kathua and Surinder Kumar Thappa, Special Mobile Magistrate, Kathua; Bench No. 2 was comprising of Ms. Kusoom Pandita, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Kathua and Ms. Cheena Sumbria, Munsiff JMIC, Kathua; Bench No. 3 was comprising of Ms. Swati Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kathua and Ms. Neena Thakur, District Mobile Magistrate, Kathua; Bench No. 4 was comprising of Jeevan Kumar Sharma, Munsiff JMIC, Basohli, Advocate Shub Kumar, President, Bar Association Basohli; Bench No. 5 was comprising of Smt. Jyoti Bhagat, Munsiff JMIC, Billawar and Mrs. Poonam Gupta, Member, Billawar; Bench No. 6 was comprising of Ms. Rajni Bhagat, Munsiff JMIC, Mahanpur; Bench No. 7 was comprising of Ms. Rimpi Rani, Munsiff JMIC, Hiranagar and Mr. Vijay Kumar President, Bar Association Hiranagar. Ms. Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Kathua coordinated the 4th National Lok Adalat of the calendar year, 2023 organized at ADR Centre, District Court Complex Kathua.
The 4th National Lok Adalat across the district was held wherein different kinds of matters were placed before the Benches included Hindu Marriage Act (HMA), Motor Vehicle Act, MACT Cases, Bank Recovery (both pre- litigation and post-litigation) matters, Criminal Compoundable, and also Traffic Challans. In today’s National Lok Adalat, Advocates, Litigants, people from various departments, Senior Citizens and also students from Ashoka Law College have participated. In the beginning, there was a special address by Worthy Chairman DLSA Kathua wherein he deliberated upon the significance of holding such Lok Adalats by giving instant justice, how it saved energy & time and how it benefited people.
Further in the National Lok Adalat, A total number of 1111 cases were taken up for their amicable settlement out of which 641 cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 15523994 /- was realized as settlement amount.
While settling matrimonial cases, in a best endeavour by the benches, 3 cases titled
1. Karanveer Sudan Vs Sharmila, 2. Seema Vs Ajit, 3. Arunjyoti Vs Anjali Devi filed by both the parties were for seeking the divorce, by the efforts of the bench, they have settled the case by resumption of their marital relation which saved their home and further married life and 01 case of Guardian Ward Act titled Nisha Vs Sunil was amicably resolved to lead a happy life.
