DLSA Kathua organises 1st National Lok Adalat of calendar year 2024
KATHUA, MARCH 09: As per the Action Plan issued by J&K Legal Services Authority and under the radiant guidance of Ashok Kumar Shavan, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Kathua), the 1st National LokAdalat of the calendar year 2024 was held at District Court Complex Kathua today.
Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Kathua) Ashok Kumar Shavan, inaugurated the National Lok Adalat.
The National Lok Adalat started with the lighting of the ceremonial of Lamp. The Chairman, in his address to the mammoth gathering, threw light on the purpose of holding the National Lok Adalat.
Four Benches were constituted for settling the referred case. The Bench No. 1 comprised Ashok Kumar Shavan, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kathua and Cheena Sumbria, Munsiff JMIC, Kathua; Bench No. 2 consisted of Swati Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kathua and Neena Thakur, District Mobile Magistrate, Kathua; Bench No. 3 included Jyoti Bhagat, Munsiff JMIC, Billawar and Jatinder Singh Bhadwal Advocate, Billawar; Bench No.4 consisted of Rimpi Rani, Munsiff JMIC, Hiranagar and Vijay Kumar President, Bar Association Hiranagar.
The 1st National Lok Adalat across the district hearing different kinds of matters included Hindu Marriage Act (HMA) cases, Motor Vehicle Act cases, MACT Cases, Bank Recovery (both pre- litigation and post-litigation) matters, Criminal Compoundable, and Traffic Challans.
A total number of 1104 Pre- Litigation (Bank Recovery Cases) and Post Litigation cases were taken up. The Lok Adalat resolved 26 Pre- Litigation Cases and 686 Post Litigation cases with a settlement of ₹1,07,33,030/ besides giving compensation to the Victims of accident cases.
