DLSA Kishtwar celebrates World Human Rights Day with Awareness Programme at GDC Kishtwar
KISHTWAR, DECEMBER 10: Under the aegis of the J&K Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kishtwar, observed World Human Rights Day with a meaningful awareness programme organized at the Government Degree College (GDC), Kishtwar. The event was held under the supervision of Manjeet Singh Manhas, Chairman of DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Kishtwar, with the aim of generating awareness about human rights and their significance in daily life.
The programme featured Slahuddin Ahmed, Secretary DLSA Kishtwar, Adv. Naveed Khurshid, Deputy Chief, LADC, and panel lawyers Adv. Farhat Nabi and Adv. Pooja Shan as resource persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Slahuddin Ahmed elaborated on this year’s Human Rights Day theme, “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now,” emphasizing the relevance of human rights in ensuring a better future. He also highlighted the significance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and briefed attendees about the legal aid and services offered by DLSA.
Prof. Basharat Iqbal, Principal of GDC Kishtwar, welcomed the resource persons and outlined the programme’s objectives. Adv. Pooja Shan discussed the origin and evolution of human rights from a global and Indian perspective, while Adv. Farhat Nabi shed light on constitutional provisions in India related to human rights. Adv. Naveed Khurshid provided insights into judicial interpretations and activism concerning human rights in India.
The event concluded with an interactive session where students actively participated, raising queries and sharing perspectives, making the programme a vibrant platform for awareness and dialogue on human rights.
