DLSA Kulgam, Social Welfare Department organize Awareness programme regarding Sexual Harassment

KULGAM OCTOBER 29: In compliance to the Plan of Action formulated by JKLSA, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kulgam in collaboration with Social Welfare Department today organized an awareness programme regarding Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) 2013 also known as PoSH ac at Conference Hall (Mini Secretariat) Kulgam.


The programme was organized under the chairpersonship of Pr. District and Session Judge Kulgam, Aijaz Ahmad Khan and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA Kulgam, Muzamil Ahmad Wani.


Nazia Hasan, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Kulgam; President Bar Association Kulgam, M Shafi Bhat; Deputy-LADC, Roshan Aara; Assistant LADC, staff of DLSA, Panel Lawyers, PLVs, Tehsil Social Welfare Officers, Coordinator-District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Administrator One Stop Centre (OSC) Kulgam, Superintendent-PAREESHA Kulgam, Gender Specialist Dist. Hub for Empowerment of Women, Students of GDC Kulgam and GGHS Kulgam, members of Juvenile Justice Board and members of Child Welfare Committee Kulgam.


The resources persons for the programme spoke on various provisions of PoSH Act and deliberated on issues faced by women working in different fields.

They stressed on the report mechanism of the women employees and said that minor issues lead to bigger problems and violence related to women.


Secretary DLSA Kulgam focused on student audience and working employees and said that steps need to be taken for preventing marginalized sections of society, and women empowerment requires basic supervision at a developing stage also so that they do not face any bigger issues and continue to strive towards development and prosperity.


He said that a duty is cast on our shoulders to take steps for awareness of the target audience so that they come forward and report to proper authorities.
Later in the question answer session, Secretary DLSA Kulgam answered various queries of the students and panel Lawyers.
