DLSA organises awareness campaigns on Solid Waste Management in Bandipora
BANDIPORA, March 29: The three-days awareness camp on Solid Waste Management organised by District Legal Services Authority Bandipora concluded on Wednesday
The awareness programmes were held in collaboration with Municipal Council Bandipora and District Pollution Control Board Bandipora under the Chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Services Authority and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Bandipora Amit Sharma.
Secretary DLSA Nusrat Ali Hakak said three mega awareness programmes were held on 23rd, 24th and 25th March at Government Degree Colleges of Bandipora, Hajin and Sumbal respectively.
She said the programmes were aimed at to create awareness among the general public to segregate waste and to explain them about the evils of dumping garbage in public places.
On the occasions resource persons and other speakers delivered lectures on the importance of Solid Waste Management and also highlighted the issue of Solid Wastes, effects of poor solid waste management.
It was apprised to everyone that due to improper disposal of solid waste particularly by waste management organizations, the collected wastes gets piled up and become a problem for both the environment and public.
During the programmes, participants were sensitized regarding the proper collection, treatment, analysis and disposal of Solid Wastes by the speakers.
The programmes had the presence of Staff Members of DLSA Bandipora, Officials of TLSC Sumbal, Officials of GDCs Bandipora/ Hajin/ Sumbal, Members of Municipal Council Bandipora, Members of District Pollution Control Board Bandipora, Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Bandipora TLSC Sumbal, Students and other participants.
