DLSA Samba organises legal awareness program on ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005’
SAMBA, May 03: As per the Action Plan issued by J&K Legal Services Authority, (JKLSA) for the month of May, 2023 and also under the directions and supervision of Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Samba, (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge Samba) a legal awareness program on “The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005” was organized by District Legal Services Authority Samba today at Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Khara Madana Teh. Bari Brahamana.
Versha Anthal, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel, District Legal Services Authority Samba was the resource person who deliberated upon the different provisions of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005.
Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Samba discussed the role of legal services institutions working for the poor and downtrodden sections of the society and also interacted with students who participated in the program.
The objective of organising this legal awareness program was to raise awareness among the students so as to strengthen the concept of gender equality and ultimately contribute to promoting zero tolerance to violence against women and to increase understanding of different forms of violence against women.
The proceedings of the program got conducted by Muzaffer Ali and vote of thanks was presented by Anju Gupta, Principal, Govt. Hr. Sec. School Khara Madana.
The program was attended by the students, faculty members of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Khara Madana and Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Samba.
