DM Ramban chairs District Road Safety Committee meeting
Lays stress on maintenance of roads to minimize mishaps
RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 02: District Magistrate Ramban, Mussarat Islam today chaired the District Road Safety Committee meeting to discuss road safety measures to minimise accidents, creating awareness about road safety and improving condition of roads.
Besides discussing the current status of National Highway 44 (NH-44) and other roads maintained by 52-RCC, GREF, PWD (R&B) and PMGSY, the District Magistrate directed enforcement departments to control speeding by taking strict action against violators.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineers of PMGSY and PWD (R&B) Division Ramban and Banihal to judiciously utilize funds provided by the District Road Safety Committee for the rectification of identified and other critical spots to avoid road accidents on the roads maintained by the twin departments.
Earlier, ARTO Ramban informed about initiatives taken to curb over speeding, overcharging, wrong parking, drunken driving, underage driving etc. on National Highway 44 and various other link roads.
The meeting was attended by, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Samrinder Singh, DySP (DAR), Waqar Butt Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti, Rajeev Gai, AO, Dalip Kumar, OC GREF, S K Gautum, officers from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and other committee members.
