DM, SSP Doda inspect District Jail; Ask for imparting skills to inmates, their reformation, de-radicalisation

DODA, February 22: District Magistrate Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan along with SSP, Abdul Qayoom inspected District Jail at Bhaderwah to get an overview of jail, type of inmates lodged and assess the facilities being provided to the inmates. 

The Superintendent Jail, Mushtaq Ahmed Malla gave a brief presentation about the working of the Jail and facilities provided to the inmates. The District Magistrate inspected cells and barracks, hospital and vocational hall and interacted with the inmates and detunes lodged in the jail. He inquired about their cases, grievances if any, and advised them to live as law-abiding citizens by transforming during their jail stay. He was also introduced to the music activity by a group of 10 inmates by witnessing their performance in the vocational/music hall.

The DM also assured to provide some additional books for the jail library and sports items.

The DM discussed possibilities to impart different skills to the inmates. He asked the Superintendent jail to work out a plan for setting up a wastage recycling plant and submit the proposal. He further directed to submit the status of computer education centre and equipment required for the same.

The DM stressed upon working out a program/plan for proper de-radicalisation of inmates who are in jail in unlawful and militancy-related activities.
