DMO Jammu seizes 04 vehicles involved in illegal mining

JAMMU, June 13: District Mineral Officer (DMO) Jammu, Dr. Gulshan Kumar today seized four vehicles including one excavator for indulging in illegal mining in the district.

The vehicles and the excavator were seized during raids conducted by the District Mineral officer Jammu and his team at Bhalwal, Chinore and Domail area.

 The excavator was seized for excavating ordinary earth  and three other vehicles were also seized for illegal transportation of minor minerals.

The seized vehicles were  handed over to Concerned I/C  Police Station for custody till the  realisation of penalities from violators.

Strict penalties have been imposed on the violators and instructions have been passed to the violators to not engage in illegal mining activities otherwise strict action shall be taken as per mines and mineral (Development and Regulation) act, 1957 of the Geology and Mining department.

The general public have been requested to purchase the material from legal source only and transport the same with valid portal generated e challan.

DMO informed that a total of 03 excavators and 16 vehicles have been seized in three days during operations conducted by team of DMO office Jammu at various location of the district.

The operation was conducted on the direction of Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa to curb the menace of illegal mining in the area.
