DMO Samba intensifies drive against illegal mining, seizes 6 vehicles

SAMBA, September 12: In compliance with the directives of the Deputy Commissioner Samba, the District Mining Officer Samba has intensified efforts to combat illegal mining activities. In a recent operation, a total of 6 vehicles involved in illegal mining were seized.

The confiscated vehicles include 5 dumpers bearing registration numbers JK02DD 2239; JK14H 1494; Jk19 7700; Jk19A 0668 and Jk19 A 2812, beside a tractor trolley bearing registration number: JK11B 2521.

One of the seized vehicles, laden with clay, has been handed over to the Vijaypur police station, while four vehicles loaded with sand have been delivered to the Mansar Chowki. Additionally, one tractor trolley has been surrendered to the Rakh Amb Chowki.

During the operation, a fine amounting to ₹56,100 was imposed on the spot for illegally dumped materials. Several more potential dump sites have been identified, and the penalty process is currently in progress. The activities of crusher unit holders and leaseholders are under scrutiny, and substantial penalties will be enforced in accordance with the law.
