Doda Admin discusses Swachhta Plan

 Waste management, garbage collection gets major focus  

DODA, JUNE 13: District Administration Doda has mapped out a plan to make the district a model one in terms of Swachhta (Cleanliness).

Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan chaired a meeting of the stakeholder departments here today in his Office Chamber to discuss the action plan for making the district 100% polythene free and clean.

It was informed that the district shall purchase garbage collection vehicles (Small), one each for every block.

 The Committee also considered buying 2 to 3 Tippers to be used for the collection of garbage from the far-off areas. It was decided in the meeting that all the Segregation Sheds, Compost Pits, MRFs, and other assets created for waste management shall be geo-tagged and used meticulously and in the best possible way to get the desired results. The concerned have been asked to take due care of black and grey water handling and its proper disposal.

The DC impressed upon the officers to ensure the general public participation, payment of user charges, and the use of magisterial powers by the BDOs is essential to ensure clean Doda.

 Plastic disposal in the areas of the district/ block / villages, which are more visible like Highways, Hill Stations, Picnic Spots, Public Places, etc, shall be given priority. The door to door collection agencies finalised for seven blocks shall ensure proper collection of domestic waste. The committee was asked to ensure that the left over blocks also get the door to door garbage collection agency. 

ADDC, ACD, and ACP were asked to personally monitor the implementation of swachhta plan and review the progress on a daily basis so that the desired results are visible on the ground.

Special focus on IEC activities will be given on educational institutions, gram sabhas, block diwas programmes, and at public places. Special attention be given to sensitise the women folk of the village. Women Officials of the line department were asked to create social media groups to reach out the women from the villages and make them aware of the swachh campaign.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Doda Pran Singh, CPO Doda Suresh Kumar, ACD Doda Phulail Singh, ACP Doda Ashfaq Khanji, EO MC Doda, Ex En REW and other concerned officers and officials.
