Doda: District Environmental Committee discuss formulation of Environment Plan    

DODA, JANUARY 30: The District Environmental Committee (DEC) today finalized the District Environment Plan (DEP) for 2023-2024 here at its meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ravi Kumar Bharti.

  The Committee, headed by Divisional Forest Officer (DFO)  Doda with  the Executive Officer Municipal Council and the Divisional Officer of the Pollution Control Committee as members, is tasked with formulation of and  uploading the plan, incorporating inputs from relevant departments and stakeholders.

The DEP aims to address the environmental concerns, including Waste Management, Plastic Waste Management, Bio-Medical Waste Management, Construction and Demolition Waste Management, Hazardous Waste Management, E-waste Management, Water Quality Management, Domestic Sewerage Management, Wetland Conservation, Industrial Waste Management, Air Quality Management, Mining Activities Management, and Noise Pollution Management.

The ADC, who is the Nodal Officer of DEC, instructed the committee members to provide inputs and plans relevant to their departments promptly. He stressed on timely approval and execution of the consolidated DEP, emphasizing environmental protection, conservation, and rejuvenation as mandated.

During the meeting, the ADC made a significant assessment regarding the estimated funds utilisation after implementing the district environment plan. He also directed to the DFO Doda to ensure that plantation drive in sensitive areas was conducted to avoid soil erosion

Dr. Bharti underscored the significance of environmental protection for future generations, urging collective responsibility in safeguarding and enhancing biodiversity.

The meeting was attended by ACD, ACP, CMO, CEO, DMO, executive officers, and representatives from engineering and pollution control departments, with priority given to waste management discussions, including e-waste management and construction waste demonstration.
