Dogri Manyta Divas Celebrated at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) proudly celebrated Dogri Manyta Divas to honor the recognition of the Dogri language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Anurag Kumar, Associate Professor and Head, School of Languages and Literature, and Dr. Madhu Mangal Chaturvedi, Head, School of Philosophy and Culture. The program was convened by Dr. Amitabh V. Dwivedi and Dr. Isha Malhotra, showcasing a collaborative effort to promote the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the Dogri language.
The celebration featured a series of events, including expert talks, cultural performances, and discussions emphasizing the significance of Dogri as a symbol of regional identity and pride. Faculty, students, and staff participated enthusiastically, making the event a resounding success.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Anurag Kumar highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting Dogri, emphasizing its vital role in connecting the present generation with their cultural roots. Dr. Madhu Mangal Chaturvedi underscored the philosophical and cultural dimensions of linguistic heritage, urging the university community to contribute actively to the preservation of indigenous languages.
