Dr. Abhijeet Jasrotia Calls for United Fight Against Drug Menace After Bari Brahmna Incident
Jammu 12 April: In a press conference held at the BJP party office in Trikuta Nagar, BJP spokesperson Dr. Abhijeet Jasrotia, accompanied by Dr. Tahir Chowdhury and spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan, strongly condemned the recent attack on a police party by drug (chitta) peddlers in the Balole Khud area of Bari Brahmna.

Dr. Jasrotia lauded the bravery of the injured police officers—SHO Pushpinder Singh, SI Abrar Mirza, and Head Constable Abdul Gani—who fought valiantly despite sustaining injuries. He emphasized that the police team acted purely in public interest, putting duty above all else, and fighting to save the youth from the clutches of drugs.
Appealing to the public to rise against the drug mafia, Dr. Jasrotia called on parents to remain vigilant about their children’s activities and protect them from falling prey to this growing menace. He urged school teachers to dedicate at least five minutes in every class to raise awareness among students about the dangers of drug addiction.
“This nefarious design originates from across the border, but local operators are doing it for easy money. We must stand together to defeat this threat,” he said.
Dr. Jasrotia also criticized political parties attempting to give a communal color to the incident, stating that the Jammu and Kashmir Police stood united in their duty to protect society, beyond the lines of religion or community.
Dr. Tahir Chowdhury proposed that the police department should introduce reward schemes for citizens who provide information about drug peddlers. He also appealed to the Health Minister to establish rehabilitation wards in every district hospital for effective treatment and recovery of drug addicts.
The leaders jointly asserted that a casual approach toward this crisis must be abandoned, warning that anyone’s kin could be the next victim if action is not taken. “It is our collective responsibility to eradicate this poison from society,” said Dr. Jasrotia.
The BJP leaders reaffirmed their commitment to stand with law enforcement agencies and the public in this fight against the drug mafia and urged citizens to act responsibly and support efforts to build a drug-free society.
