Dr Karan Singh pays tributes to Maharaja Gulab Singh on his 232nd birth anniversary 

Announces 20 pc Diwali Bonus, 5 pc DA for employees 

JAMMU, Oct 21: Dr Karan Singh, Chairman Trustee of J&K Dharmarth Trust Council today paid glorious tributes to the first Dogra Ruler of Jammu and Kashmir Maharaja Gulab Singh on his 232^nd Birth Anniversary, in a function held at Shri Raghunath ji Temple here today. 

The Chairman Trustee was received by Brig R.S Langeh (Retd), President of the Trust and Ashok Kumar Sharma (IPS Retd), Secretary amidst chanting of Vedic Mantras by the students of Raghunath Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Birpur. 

Dr Karan Singh paid obeisance in the sanctum sanctorum of Shri Raghunath ji Temple and prayed for the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. He also performed Purnahuti of the Yagya being held in the memory of Maharaja Gulab Singh ji on his birth anniversary.

Paying rich tributes to Maharaja Gulab Singh, Dr Karan Singh termed the great Maharaja’s rule was a glorious period of Jammu and Kashmir kingdom. He recalled the laudable achievements of Maharaja Gulab Singh who is best known for extending the Indian boundaries deep into areas ruled by Afghans, Tibetans and Chinese for which the people of J&K are very much proud of.

The Chairman Trustee said that contribution of Maharaja for the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir shall remain incomparable in coming times. He described him as a great visionary, brave and enterprising ruler who did justice to all and treated the subjects as his own family. He laid a very deep and sound foundation of the Dogra dynasty which will remain evergreen in the pristine glory of the history of Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed the necessity of maintaining the long tradition of interfaith harmony in the entire Union Territory.

The Chairman Trustee, as a goodwill gesture, has announced a 20% Diwali bonus, 5 per cent DA for employees of Dharmarth Trust. He also distributed cash assistance to the students of Raghunath Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Birpur.
