BJP holds meeting of Praja Parishad veterans at party headquarter

JAMMU, March 19: Nanaji Deshmukh Library and Documentation Department of Bharatiya Janata Party under its Incharge Prof. Kulbhushan Mohtra, organized a meeting of the veteran leaders and activists of the Praja Parishad Agitation at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.   

Ashok Koul, BJP General Secretary (organization), while speaking on the occasion, said that today BJP has achieved the distinction of winning 300 seats and it is the result of the hard work put by the activists from the days of Bharatiya Jana Sangh and Praja Parishad. The sapling sown by the veterans in 1953, has grown into a big banyan tree and the credit for the same goes to the committed nationalist people, who left the comforts of life and jumped into the historic Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan agitation, followed by many others from time to time.

Jammu and Kashmir has large number of such families whose elders had devoted themselves for the cause of the nation and even laid down their lives for the honour of the national tricolor and separate symbols like constitution and the post of Prime Minister”, Ashok Koul said and added that our tallest leader Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee sacrificed his life in this erstwhile state for the cause of the nation.

Ashok Koul also appealed these veterans to share their experience for meaningful management of the campaigning activities in the upcoming LS polls so that the BJP forms the government under PM Narendra Modi for the third consecutive term and continue with its pro-nation, pro-people, programmes and policies. He also asked them to forward their suggestions to be included in the party’s Sankalp Patra for making India Viksit Bharat by 2047. 

Praja Parishad’s living legend, Shiv Kumar Gupta, now crossed 90, shared various incidents of his long journey from 1945 and association with Jana Sangh, RSS and BJP and said that Jammu and Kashmir had been the land of nationalist people, whose patriotism was unparalleled. 

Kulbhushan Mohtra spoke on the books authored by him and titled “A Saga of Sacrifices” Praja Parishad Movement in Jammu & Kashmir, Jammu Kashmir ki Sangharsh Gatha and “100 Documents” A Reference Book of Jammu & Kashmir, which carry the authentic and reliable information about various agitations and the sufferings of the people during decades of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Former MLC, Vikram Randhawa, said that the young generation has to be informed about the struggle and sacrifices of the nationalist people in Jammu and Kashmir and induce the sense of patriotism among them.

Naresh Katal, Raman Kaushal, Jugal Dogra, Veena Gupta, Dharamveer Singh Jasrotia, Shiv Kumar Padha, Ramneek Manhas, MJ Mookherjee, Er. Di Bahadur Singh Jamwal, TK Sharma and others were prominent among those who attended this meeting.
