Dr Sehrish Asgar presides Gram sabha meeting at Fatehpora, Calls for Holistic Development of District
BARAMULLA, April 10: District Administration Baramulla today organized a daylong session of the officers and field functionaries of all line departments for finalization of Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) in the district.
The main function of Gram sabha meeting in Baramulla was held at Fatehpora Panchayt under the supervision of Deputy commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar in presence of Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Baramulla Gulzar Ahmad Khan and some senior officers.
It is worth here to mention that Fatehpora Panchayt of Block Baramulla was recently conferred for National Panchayat Award 2022-23 by the Union Ministry of Rural development and Panchayat Raj Govt. of India in recognition to the women friendly services rendered towards their welfare and empowerment.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sehrish Asgar underlined the objectives of these Gram Sabhas and said that main focus is to involve all the concerned stakeholders so that the mission of holistic development of our villages is achieved. She urged the people to come forward and participate in such events as the people centric and people led governance is the main priority of the present dispensation.
She highlighted the role of PRIs and other functionaries in resource mobilization and said that several initiatives are being taken to make our panchayats self reliant in terms of the national goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
While informing about the GPDP, the DC said that the plan under nine thematic areas encompasses all the localised Sustainable goals for over all development of rural areas. She added that different welfare and sponsored schemes like SBM, MGNREGA, PMAY, IWMP, NRM and many other CSS schemes of line departments are being executed and implemented in convergence and mission mode.
Furthermore, the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Gulzar Ahmad Khan further added that the mission of total sanitation of all the villages is also being realized through the GPDP as it contains all verticals of SBM like construction of segregation sheds, community compost pits, community soak pits, leach pits, plastic waste management unit sanitary complexes and toilets with expected resource allocation for ensuring saturation in all villages that will definitely pave way for declaration of villages as ODF plus Model within the given time line.
