Drug abuse detection training concludes in Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, March 25: A three-day training programme on early detection of drug abuse and post-detection management concluded today in Chatroo. The programme was organised by the District Administration of Kishtwar under the aegis of Mission Youth. The theme was “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan – crusade against narco-terrorism”, aimed at keeping children, youth and students away from drug abuse.

The first phase of the training was held at the DC Office Complex in Kishtwar two days ago. The second phase took place in Gulabgarh Paddar yesterday. The third and final phase was held today in Chatroo in collaboration with the Rural Development and Social Welfare Departments.

Resource persons from Jammu and Kashmir Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses gave a detailed presentation on practical measures to counter drug abuse. These included Rudrakshi Raina and Nivedita Arora (counsellors) and Vinkal Kumar (medical staff).

The training programme focused on early detection measures and the role of parents and frontline workers in preventing drug abuse. The audience was informed about risk factors and withdrawal symptoms. Youth club members were given tips on how to overcome addiction and avoid drugs.

Resource persons discussed measures for quitting addiction and techniques for counselling those involved in drug-related crimes. Frontline workers were educated about their roles and responsibilities in the mission.

The third phase of the training programme concluded successfully with a vote of thanks from Tasleem Wani, BDO of Chatroo. Zubair Ahmed, District Social Welfare Officer of Kishtwar, forwarded a message stating that drug abuse is a heinous crime and youth clubs need to be ambassadors of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The training was attended by SDM Chatroo, Inderjeet Singh Parihar; District Social Welfare Officer, Zubair Ahmed; BDO Chatroo, Tasleem Wani; Dr Haris from Addiction Treatment Facility Kishtwar besides others.
