Drunk driver hits 3 motorcycles in Mumbai; injures one
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 2 (ANI): A speeding car hit three bikes, injuring one person in the process in Mumbai on Friday.
“Last night at around 1:00 AM, a speeding car hit three bikes in Mumbai, injuring one person,” the Kanjur Marg Police said.
According to the police, they received information about a car that had hit four to five vehicles and then met with an accident.
The police further said that the car driver had hit three motorcycles and injured a person identified as 19-year-old Shyam Satish Gaikwad. Gaikwad was later taken to the Ambedkar Hospital for treatment.
The police said that the driver of the car, 24-year-old Alpesh Vivek Indulkar, was drunk when the incident took place.
Indulkar was later taken into custody and a case was registered against him by the police.
The police had also seized his Tata Nexon car.
In a similar incident, a 46-year-old woman lost her life after being hit by a speeding car in the Virar area of Maharashtra’s Palghar district on Thursday evening, August 1.
The deceased had been identified as Atmja Kasat, a teacher at the Utkarsh Junior College.
Arnala police had arrested the driver of the Toyota Fortuner identified as Shubham Patil.
According to information recieved, Atmaja Kasat was passing in front of Muljibhai Mehta School in Virar West, when a car coming from behind hit her.
She sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Kasat, however, died succumbed to her injuries during treatment. The Arnala Sagari police arrested driver Shubham Patil late on Thursday night. (ANI)
