DSRS JU organises a talk on Research in Security Studies
JAMMU, April 06: The Department of Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS), University of Jammu has organized a talk on “Research in Security Studies” in the seminar hall of the Department of Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS).
The talk was delivered by Prof.Umrao Singh from the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, Punjabi University of Patiala, to the Research Scholars and the students of the master’s programme of the department. Prof Umrao Singh introduced the concept of security and gave a detailed account of security studies from different perspectives as well as shed light on research ethics in National Security Studies. The focus of his talk was on different methods of research and approaches to the problems of international relations to avoid conflict of interest and suggested to give due consideration to copyrights norms. He also stressed that research scholars should focus on originality and objectivity in research.
Prof.Umrao Singh also reminded students that they should make use of open-access initiatives provided by Indian and abroad institutions. Prof Umrao Singh further stressed on publication misconduct, authorship issues and unethical authorship practices. Prof Umrao Singh’s lecture was also focused on India in the backdrop of India’s global recognition and how it impacts India’s status in international affairs.
Earlier, Prof.VirenderKoundal, Director DSRS, presented a formal welcome address and introduced the theme of the lecture.
This program was also attended by Dr. Mohammad MonirAlam, Dr.Suneel Kumar, Dr.Surinder Mohan, research scholars and PG students of the department.
