DSW, ICDS Kulgam organize Awareness/ Enrollment drive for Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Account scheme

KULGAM, FEBRUARY 10: The Department of Social Welfare (DSW) Kulgam in collaboration with ICDS and Department of Posts Kulgam today organised a day-long awareness cum enrollment drive for Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana Account scheme at Town Hall, here.

The program was held under the theme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (BBBP), to address the issue of declining child sex ratio along with related issues of empowerment of Women.

Present on the occasion were Tehsil Social Welfare Officers, Officials of District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), One Stop Centre for Women (OSC) Kulgam, Officials from Post Office Kulgam and Field Officials from Social Welfare Department and ICDS Kulgam.

Speaking on the occasion, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Kulgam (Hqr) Muzaffer Ahmad Rather gave a detailed introduction about Sukanya Smridhi Yojna and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign.

District Mission Coordinator DHEW Kulgam, Tanseena Nazir highlighted the features as well as benefits of the scheme.

Gender specialist Saba Mogul from DHEW stressed on the financial empowerment of Women. 

On the occasion, Registration counters for on spot opening of SSA accounts were also kept available in collaboration with Post Office Kulgam.

Hundreds of eligible children were registered on the spot.
