Eat Millet Walkathon held at Katra
REASI, April 07: The Mega Eat Right Millet Walkathon started today and was flagged off by Executive Director of FSSAI New Delhi, Inoshi Sharma; Commissioner FDA J&K, Shakeel ul Rehman; SSP Katra, Amit Vasin; and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Katra, Angrez Singh.
They were joined by health icon and Commonwealth Games Champion 2015, Sangram Singh Wrestler; Chairman and President of Katra Hotel Association, Rakesh Wazir and Sham Lal Kesar; and officers of Food Safety FDA and allied departments. Participants included school children, business stakeholders, pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi, prominent citizens and the public.
The walkathon started from Fountain Chowk Katra and culminated at Railway Station Katra. Participants chanted slogans promoting the importance of millets and their health benefits were highlighted on placards. Hydration points were installed along the route. The event aimed to promote the inclusion of millets in daily meals.
The walkathon went through the markets of Katra with participants projecting the themes of the event. A mobile food testing van was displayed to promote the event and different departments participated.
FSSAI collaborated with Food and Drugs Administration UT J&K to promote Indian-based recipes and value-added products as part of the IYOM expedition. The walkathon culminated at Railway Station Katra where cultural activities were carried out at the Holiday Inn site. Dignitaries including SSP Katra, SDM Katra and health icon Sangram Singh were facilitated by Commissioner FDA J&K UT, Shakeel ul Rehman.
