ECI disappointed J&K people, BJP didn’t  want assembly elections: Congress

JAMMU, March 16: Congress has said that ECI has disappointed the people of  Jammu and Kashmir by not announcing assembly elections alongwith Lok Sabha and deprived the people of democracy for more time to come.

Reacting to the ECI explanation on the delay in holding assembly elections, JKPCC said that it has exposed the Govt. and the ruling party being behind the delay in view of ECI, which stated that the entire necessary process was completed in Dec. 2023 only, so there is no delay on the part of ECI.. This clearly demonstrates that the Govt. delayed exercise to delay the elections.

The Centre Govt., LG administration and BJP was hoodwinking the people, time and again by stating  that it is ECI which has to decide the timing of Assembly polls but now ECI said that there is no delay on its  part, as the requisite exercise was not complete till December 2023. This has exposed BJP which was delaying the elections, for political reasons.

JKPCC Senior Vice President & Chief Spokesperson Mr. Ravinder Sharma said that as far as security concerns, the elections were held in the past under more challenging times of situation. This has busted the normalcy claims of the BJP Govt. as ECI was not satisfied on security front for Assembly elections.

The party said that the one nation one election is also a mere slogan and has failed before taking off. All parties especially opposition had in one voice demanded immediate assembly elections in tune & spirit  of  Supreme Court  directions, he added. He said that Congress will forcefully  fight the Lok Sabha elections and  wrest all Lok Sabha seats in J&K and Ladakh.
