Economics & Statistics Directorate celebrates 17th Statistics Day
JAMMU, JUNE 26: Directorate of Economics & Statistics and School of Applied Economics & Statistics, Jammu organized a Seminar/Quiz competition on the eve of 17th Statistics Day on the theme of “Alignment of State Indicator Framework with National Indicator Framework for monitoring Sustainable Development Goals” here in the auditorium of School of Applied Economic & Statistics, Jammu.
The speakers highlighted the notable contribution made by Lt. Prof. P. C. Mahalanobis, Father of Indian Statistics, in the fields of Economic Planning and Statistical Development. The Officers/officials of the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, J&K, Jammu, School of Applied Economics & Statistics, Jammu and District Statistics & Evaluation Officers of various districts of Jammu region participated in it with full enthusiasm.
Director General, Economic & Statistics, J&K, Satvir Kour Sudan presided over the programme as the Chief Guest and highlighted the major achievements of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, J&K regarding formulation of various indices for the year 2022-23.
Director (Planning) , Department of Youth Services and Sports, Ashu Gupta and Principal, School of Applied Economics & Statistics, Jammu, Sanjay Vashist also highlighted the importance of Statistics in the present era. On this occasion, Officers/Officials, who gave outstanding performance in the Seminar/Quiz competition, were felicitated with awards and certificates.
