Education Department of GDC Khaltse Conducts a Visit to ICDS/Anganwadi Centre Khaltse
Khaltse, October 9, 2024: As part of the curriculum titled Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Skill Course 3rd semester students of Education Department GDC Khaltse visited Anganwadi Centre in Khaltsi block today on October 9. The objective of the visit was to observe and record the daily activities of Aganwadi Centre, role of anganwadi worker for the overall development of children and recreational facilities available at the centre. The students were accompanied by Dr Fayaz Ahmad, Assistant Professor of Education.
During the visit, it was observed that the Anganwadi Centre had basic infrastructure, including a classroom, a small kitchen, and an open space for outdoor activities.
Students observed that the teaching methods used for imparting foundational skills such as language and number recognition were used by the trainers. They also witnessed the role of play-based learning by engaging children in games that helped in developing their motor skills and cognitive abilities.
Students also learned the process of meal preperation for the children. The meals were nutritious and followed the prescribed guidelines for ensuring adequate intake of proteins, vitamins, and minerals essential for child growth. It was noted that many children depend on Anganwadi for their daily nutritional needs. Regular health check-ups and immunization programs were conducted at the Anganwadi Centre as well. Students interacted with the Anganwadi workers, who explained the process of monitoring children’s growth and keeping health records.
The visit to the Anganwadi Centre at Khaltsi provided valuable and practical insights to the students. It not only helped them understand the operational aspects of such centers but also exposed them to the socio-economic realities of early childhood care in rural areas. The students left with a deeper appreciation of the role of Anganwadi Centers in the holistic development of children.
