Educational Institutions organize thought provoking sessions on Gandhian philosophy
JAMMU, September 15: The educational Institutions including Government Degree Colleges, schools and Universities are abuzz with activities being held to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti and encourage the students to immerse in the Philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, which has enlightened the people globally.
Government Degree College Ramgarh: In continuation to the series of the activities being organized to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti 2023, Government Degree College Ramgarh organized a symposium on the theme ‘Truth and Non-violence’ under the aegis of India’s presidency in G20 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
A total of 12 students participated in the event. First prize was bagged by Vishali Choudhary, second position was clicked by Chahat Sapolia and third prize was won by Prinka Devi.
The event was organized under guidance of College the Principal Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra.
Prof. Risha Kumari, Convener of the event, highlighted the background of Truth and Non-Violence in the freedom struggle and advised the students to imbibe these golden principles in their life. Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Shivali Choudhary, Department of Political Science emphasized on the need for reviving the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi.
GDC Kishtwar: A symposium on the theme- Truth and Non-violence was organised by the Department of Political Science, Government Degree College Kishtwar under the fortnight long celebration of Gandhi Jayanti-2023.
Around 100 students participated in the Symposium. The programme commenced with the Keynote address by the Head Department of Political Science , Prof S R Chauhan in which he held that Gandhian Philosophy has two strong credentials i.e Truth and Non-Violence and it provides a viable alternative to the various challenges which the world is facing today.
Eight students spoke on the thought provoking topic. Angeet Singh, Abroo Wajid and Uzama g bagged the 1st ,2nd and 3rd prize respectively
Government Degree College Sunderbani: In continuation to Gandhi Jayanti celebration, NSS unit Government Degree College Sunderbani in collaboration with Road safety Club screened a documentary on life and contribution of Mahatma Gandhi. A lecture on the philosophy of Bapu was also organized on the theme.
Prof. Sham Lal delivered the lecture and highlighted the importance of Gandhian principles in today’s world, especially in the context of education and peace-building. Prof. Sheraz kousser NSS PO while presenting vote of thanks highlighted the relevance of Gandhian principles of non-violence, truth, and simplicity in contemporary times. Prof. Beant Singh conducted the preceding of the event.
A large number of students took active part in the event.
SPMR College of Commerce: Department of Commerce of the Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu organised a symposium competition on the topic ‘Truth and Non-violence’.
A total of 50 students attended the programme. Anamika Thakur bagged first prize in the competition, while Rama and Pallavi secured second and third positions, respectively.
The competition was adjudged by Dr. Monika Malhotra and Prof. Ashu Manhas. The event was organised under the patronage of Principal of the college, Dr. Surinder Kumar.
