Eight people arrested in Nepal for online betting, fraud

Kathmandu, Jun 15 (PTI) At least eight people, including artists and YouTube operators, were arrested for being allegedly involved in a fraud through a gambling site, police said on Thursday.

The accused were arrested after the police got information of a few illegal transactions of a total sum of Rs 640 million being made by a group.

Following a detailed probe into the matter, the police officials got to know that the group was using 1XBET, a platform used for betting or gambling online in various games across the world, to commit the fraud.

“Following the probe the people involved were arrested. It included artists and YouTube opeators,” the police officicer said.

The officer said that the individuals were arrested on charges of promoting betting websites and indulging in illegal gaming activities through their YouTube channels.
