‘Ek Charcha Rajasav Qanoono Pe’ organised in Samba
In-depth discussion on revenue laws, property tax, amendments, SOs, Circulars held for capacity building of revenue staff
SAMBA, February 27: District Administration Samba today organized ‘Ek Charcha Rajaasav Qanoon pe’ to disseminate information on various revenue laws including the latest amendments & government standing orders here today at Conference Hall DC office Samba.
Chief guest on the occasion Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ms Anuradha Gupta inaugurated the programme and exhorted upon revenue officers and officials to completely understand the domains of the revenue laws in view of latest amendments so that an impetus to the governance at doorstep is achieved in light of array of online services.
The DC alasked the officers to conduct massive awareness among the public to clear doubts on property tax through door to door campaign. She said Property Tax in J&K is one the lowest in the whole of country and upto 1000 sqft households have been exempted from its ambit. She also informed that 5135 households in Samba district are exempted from property tax and very nominal tax will be imposed as per formula for calculation.
Special camps shall also be conducted to disseminate awareness on property tax among locals, the DC said.
The capacity building programme of revenue officers on revenue laws will ensure transparent and effective governance in the revenue department, said DC Samba.
The programme with two sessions included a detailed presentation on Revenue Laws and Property Tax. There was threadbare discussion on the latest amendments in revenue including Land revenue act, Change of land use regulations, purchase of agriculture land by non agriculturist, instructions on land demarcation, issuance of Fard intikhab
The discussion on property tax included the need for property tax, financial health of ULBs, calculation of tax, key features including Truths and Facts.
The objective was to familiarize all revenue officers with the provisions of the Property Tax Act so that they are able to clarify the doubt of the general public.
Among others ADDC Rajinder Singh, ADC Rakesh Dubey, SDM Ghagwal Ramkesh Sharma, SDM Vijaypur Vinay Kumar, ACR Manu Hansa besides all tehsildars, all Naib Tehsildar, all girdawars, all patwaris besides other revenue officials were also present.
