Election preparedness reviewed in Rajouri

RAJOURI, September 07: Measures to maintain Law & Order during Assembly Election were today reviewed here at a meeting convened on the directions of the District Election Officer Abhishek Sharma


The meeting was attended by Zonal and Sectoral Officers and chaired by Nodal Officer Rajiv Khajuria.


Key points discussed included the identification of routes for polling parties, compliance with Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines, and the importance of conducting mock polls to ensure readiness.


Officers were instructed to submit 02-hourly reports on Election Day and ensure thorough checking of Polling Officer (PO) diaries and necessary formats. They were also tasked with preparing and submitting detailed road maps and sketches of polling arrangements.


A wide publicity of the voter helpline was stressed to assist the public and identify shadow areas for effective election monitoring.


Additional instructions included the physical verification of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), proper guidance for polling teams, and the strict enforcement of a no-campaigning zone within 200 metres of polling stations, particularly with regard to the distribution of voter slips. Furthermore, officers were directed to organize EVM demonstrations to raise public awareness and conduct frequent visits to polling stations to ensure preparedness.


The meeting was attended by Deputy DEO Shakeel Malik, Nodal Officer Control Room Sandeep Sharma, Nodal Officer MCMC Ashiq Rafiq Malik as well as other district and sectoral officers.
