Empowering Agriculture: DDC Chairman bats for promotion of cash crops in Doda

DODA, January 25: Dhananter Singh, Chairman District Development Council (DDC) today emphasized the promotion of cash crops like Mushroom Cultivation in the district to make farming a lucrative activity.

 He was addressing participants at a one-day training session for mushroom growers in Doda.

 The event, with the DDC Chairman as the chief guest, brought together key figures including the Director Horticulture and Agriculture Ram Sevak, Director of Command Area Development, and Chief Agriculture Officers Anil Kumar Gupta all rally around the focus on mushroom cultivation.

During the session, DDC Chairman Dhananter Singh listed the launch of schemes aimed at preventing the migration of farmers. He enumerated initiatives such as PMKISAN with a financial assistance of Rs 6000, and Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans. Sharma emphasized that these schemes were tailored to enhance the livelihood of farmers, ensuring they have the necessary resources to thrive in their agricultural pursuits.

In a holistic perspective, the Chairman stressed that engaging in agriculture not only contributes to financial well-being but also promotes physical fitness and overall health. Recognizing the multifaceted benefits of agriculture, he encouraged the community to embrace farming as a means to boost income and foster a sustainable and healthy lifestyle.

The Director of Agriculture outlined the strategic approach to mushroom cultivation, highlighting the significance of adopting both low-cost and high-tech poly-houses. Additionally, the establishment of Kisaan Khidmat Centres in Doda district was underscored as a crucial step to support and guide farmers in enhancing the agricultural practices.
