Enhancing healthcare infrastructure, medical care services across UT prime objective of LG’s Administration: Advisor Bhatnagar
Reviews progress of major health projects in Jammu and Kashmir
SRINAGAR, September 15: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today maintained that enhancing the healthcare infrastructure and medical care services across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is the prime objective of LG’s Administration and in the last four years medical infrastructure has been amplified here.
The Advisor made these remarks while chairing a high level meeting to review the progress of ongoing works on major health projects in J&K.
The meeting was attended by Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME), Bhupinder Kumar; Director General Budget, M.Y Ittoo; Director Health Services Jammu/Kashmir, Engineer in Chief, Chief Engineer Kashmir, Principals of all newly established medical colleges of Anantnag, Baramulla, Handwara, Doda, Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, representatives of JKPCC, JTFRP/ERA and other concerned officers both in person and through video conferencing.
During the extensive review, Advisor Bhatnagar took detailed assessment of ongoing works on all newly established medical colleges of Anantnag, Baramulla, Handwara, Doda, Rajouri, Kathua and Udhampur, Bone and Joint Hospital, Jammu/Srinagar, State Cancer Institute Jammu, upgradation of SDHs at Nowshera, Marwah, Bilawar, Sunderbani, Taryath, Qaimoh, Kreeri, D.H Pora, emergency hospital Jammu, Rehmat-e-Alam Hospital Anantnag and other facilities.
During the meeting, Advisor Bhatnagar emphasized on the importance of timely execution and quality standards in these projects, which are essential for the well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted that these projects are mainly aimed at improving healthcare accessibility in remote areas.
The Advisor stated that the healthcare needs of the people in Jammu and Kashmir will be met efficiently and effectively through these important projects. He remarked that the current Administration is dedicated towards providing accessible and high-quality healthcare services to every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir and these projects indicate our relentless commitment towards improving healthcare infrastructure across the region.
While assessing the progress of projects executed by PWD(R&B) department like GMCs at Kathua, Doda, Rajouri, Handwara, State Cancer institute Jammu, Bone and Joint Hospital Jammu, SDHs at Nowshera, Marwah, Bilawar, Sunderbani, Taryath, Qaimoh, Kreeri, D.H Pora and other prestigious projects, the Advisor called upon the officers to handover the completed projects immediately and make all the GMCs fully functional. He stressed upon the Principals of GMCs to thoroughly check the handed over buildings and report any sort of non facilities to the authorities.
Similarly, reviewing the progress of projects executed by JKPCC like GMCs at Anantnag and Baramulla, construction of additional 100 bedded additional block at DH Kishtwar, Construction of 50 bedded CHC Hospital Kandi, Construction of New Hospital Building at CD Hospital Srinagar and other projects, the Advisor emphasized upon the management of corporation to complete the projects before the onset of winters. He stated that no more delays will be tolerated in execution of works on these projects and directed the concerned officers to take action against underperforming officials.
The Advisor also reviewed the status of Rehmat-e-Alam Hospital Anantnag and directed the Chief Engineer Kashmir complete all the works on hospital well on time so that the hospital is dedicated to public before winters.
Likewise, Advisor Bhatnagar also reviewed the progress on Construction of 200 bedded Additional Block at Lal Ded Hospital, Srinagar and Construction of 120 Bedded Bone and Joint Hospital, Srinagar funded by World Bank and executed JK ERA.
