Ensure timely financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries under govt schemes: Shakeel Ul Rehman
BANDIPORA, JULY 11: The District Consultative Committee (DCC) and District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting for the quarter ending March 2024 was today jointly chaired by Chairperson, District Development Council Bandipora, Abdul Gani Bhat and Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman.
The meeting focused on the district’s credit growth and social security schemes.
While briefing the chair regarding Prime Ministers Social Security Schemes, LDM Shameem Ahmad Haji apprised the chair that under PMMY, 46813 beneficiaries have been covered by different banks operating in the district, while 43693 beneficiaries have been covered under PMSBY, 25858 beneficiaries under PMJJBY, and 99901 beneficiaries have been covered under PMJDY.
The meeting was informed that the district has achieved 57 percent in credit flow for the priority sector, while in the non-priority sector, credit flow for the quarter ending March 2024 was 343 percent.
It was given out that under PMEGP (DIC), 242 cases, under PMEGP (KVIC) 61 cases, under PMEGP (KVIB), 540 cases have been disbursed, whereas under NRLM, 239 cases for the first dose and 132 cases for the second dose stand disbursed.
Sharing the details, Lead District Manager (LDM), Shameem Ahmad Haji, informed that the district has achieved a 96% CD ratio for the quarter ending March 2024.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need to improve performance in priority sectors, particularly agriculture, to boost agricultural productivity and support local farming.
He instructed banks to conduct awareness camps for social security schemes to educate and enroll more beneficiaries under these schemes to enhance social security coverage in the district.
The DC directed LDM to conduct a monthly review of banks with poor performance to improve their operational efficiency.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need for pre-sanction scrutiny of all requisite documents of beneficiaries by concerned departments to minimise the rejection rate and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive timely financial assistance under various government schemes.
Stressing youth empowerment, the Deputy Commissioner directed the departments and banks to effectively enhance youth engagement through various government schemes for overall socio-economic development.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Mohammad Maqbool, Chief Horticulture Officer Farooq Ahmad, Chief Agriculture Officer Javid Ahmad, representatives of RBI, NABARD, and others concerned.
