EPFO organises Awareness/ Outreach program under AKAM at Shopian
SHOPIAN, MAY 29: The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) today conducted an awareness cum district outreach programme on the benefits of social security schemes and insurance schemes of EPFO under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) at District Administrative Complex, here.
During the programme, Enforcement Officer (Central) of the EPFO, Suhail Ahmad gave a detailed insight about the EPF and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952.
The Enforcement Officer elaborated in detail the provisions of the Employees’ Pension Scheme 1995 and the Employees Deposit Linked Insurance scheme, 1976 especially the responsibility of departments / organizations in the registration process of their employees.
The process of registration of employees by Principal Employers on the online portal of the EPFO was threadbare discussed in the programme.
The Enforcement Officer stressed all the concerned departments and executing agencies to ensure that all contract and outsourced employees engaged under various Govt Departments directly or indirectly are registered on a mission mode in the district in a time-bound manner.
He said that expanding the net of Social Security cover to the uncovered workers and labourers especially contract workers engaged with the government departments, and creating awareness about the benefits available to the PF members under the EPF & MP Act, 1952 and schemes framed thereunder alongside sensitizing the Principal Employers about various services and facilities being provided by EPFO to various stakeholders is the need of the hour.
Among others, the programme was attended by Assistant Commissioner Labour, Zameer Ahmad, besides officials from Health, FCS&CA, and transporters and other concerned.
