“Every Budget of PM prepared as per Adani, Ambani’s advice”: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi
New Delhi [India], July 22 (ANI): Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Monday targeted the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre over the Budget 2024-25 which will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharman on Tuesday, alleging that every budget of PM Modi is prepared as per Adani and Ambani’s advice.
He also alleged that this Budget would provide no relief on tax to middle-class people and the poor.
Notably, Union Budget for 2024-25 will be presented in Lok Sabha by Nirmala Sitharaman on July 23
Speaking on expectations from the Budget, Gogoi told ANI, “The budget will be prepared keeping in mind the profits of Adani and Ambani…There will be no relief on tax for middle-class people and the poor…Every budget of PM Modi is prepared as per Adani and Ambani’s advice.”
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi said that it is a moment of pride for the government to present the first budget of the BJP-led NDA government’s third term.
“It is a matter of pride that after 60 years, a government has come to power for the third time and will present the first budget of the third term…I have been giving guarantees to the people of the country and our mission is to bring this to the ground. This budget is important budget for Amrit Kaal. Today’s budget will decide the direction for the next 5 years of our term. This budget will also become a strong foundation of our dream of ‘Viksit Bharat’,” PM Modi said.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey 2023-2024 in the Lok Sabha earlier on Monday.
The Economic Survey document, prepared by the Economic Division of the Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance and formulated under the supervision of the chief economic adviser, will give insights into the state of the economy and various indicators of 2023-24 (April-March) and some outlook for the current year.
The Budget Session of Parliament, which is commencing on Monday, is likely to conclude on August 12. The session will have 16 sittings spread over 22 days.
Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that this session will mainly be devoted to the financial business relating to the Union Budget for 2024-25, which will be presented to Lok Sabha on July 23.
With this upcoming budget presentation, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will surpass the record set by former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who presented five annual budgets and one interim budget between 1959 and 1964 as finance minister. Sitharaman’s upcoming budget speech will be her seventh.
