Ex Dy CM Tarachand Cautions People of Jammu against deceitful tactics of present Government

Jammu, August 30, 2023 :  Senior Congress leader, Former Deputy CM Tarachand today asked the UT administration to revisit it’s decision of installation of smart meters putting the decision on hold. He said that that the administration should take the Senior departmental officials, elected representatives, heads of various social and political organizations on board to find an amicable way to meet the aspirants of the electricity consumers. This was stated by Tara Chand while addressing  the public meeting at Jourian khour Constituency against installing smart meters.

Jammu is consuming less electricity but generating more revenue but the government has decided to install smart meters in Jammu, which speaks about their discriminatory policies against Jammu. It is another gift of government to Jammuities, who have been supporting it’s decisions since long but in return they have been deceived with repeated denials on account of share in government Jobs, on account of stalled development projects.” Tarachand said, adding that before holding power, they have been talked about discrimination but it seemed to be only restricted for political gains of getting power for BJP leaders, added Tarachand. 

He condemned the move as “sheer injustice” inflicted upon the people. This is nothing short of high-handedness. They are already grappling with numerous challenges, and this will only make their lives more difficult, he remarked. The government is making them face hardships. He emphasized the pressing need for authorities  to address their grievances and take their Concerns into serious Consideration.

Tara Chand  further said that the unprecedented price rise and record unemployment especially in Jammu and Kashmir, the government has utterly failed to bring the prices under control. The common man is suffering due to unprecedented prices of all essential commodities and unreasonable taxes. All sections of society are worst sufferers under this regime. The Jammu and Kashmir tops in the unemployment in the country and the educated youth are frustrated due to wrong policy of the government. Lakhs of educated youth’s are without jobs in Jammu and Kashmir while the daily wagers, need based, contractual and other temporary employees are protesting for regularization.

He said that constant price-hike, people in all parts of country were taking people to streets to express anger over the increase of prices of essential commodities of life but this callous govt. has not moved even an inch to address this burning issue and infect busy in poll campaigns least bothering about grievances of common man. It divided the country on communal line for vote bank politics. He said the government, after coming into power, had been increasing the prices of oil, gas and electricity.

Former Dy CM Tarachand said that Congress will create awareness among the general public about the failure of the government and the drawbacks of not having the status of being a state. He said that Jammu has witnessed huge setbacks due to the revocation of the statehood but the BJP government including the seizing of Jobs, lands and suppression of political and civil rights. The economy has also suffered immensely due to government’s irrational policies and decisions. Therefore it is high time that the Centre keeps it’s promise of giving back statehood so that people can exercise their political rights by choosing a democratic government. 

He said that Congress party is the only truly secular, democratic and progressive force which can keep Jammu and Kashmir on the path of peace, progress and harmony while the forces of hatred would create wedge in the society and the regions for vote bank politics.
