Expenditure Observer meets representatives of Political Parties at Shopian

Sensitizes them about the norms of ECI on expenditure incurrence & monitoring


SHOPIAN, AUGUST 22: Election Expenditure Observer for district Shopian, Nelapatla Ashok Babu today held a meeting with representatives of Political Parties at Shopian in order to sensitize them about the election matters related to the expenditure incurrence and monitoring of contesting candidates during the ensuing Elections to the Assembly Constituencies of Shopian and Zainapora of the district.


He intimated them about various systemic measures taken to ensure peaceful and inducement free elections. He sought their cooperation towards the conduct of impactful and fair elections without engaging in any illegal financial transactions or inducements by them.


In this context, he apprised them that multiple Flying Squads, Static Surveillance, Video Viewing Teams and Accounting teams for both the ACs of District have been constituted to keep check on expenditure incurrence by contesting candidates. He informed that teams have been deployed in both the Assembly Constituencies of Shopian and Zainapora to ensure level playing field for all candidates.


All political parties were sensitized on expenditure related maintenance of records and were requested to nominate their Booth Level Agents at all polling stations in order to ensure more participation of political parties in the process.


District Election Officer, Faz Lul Haseeb who attended the meeting also addressed the gathering and informed of the preparedness of district administration to conduct smooth, peaceful and transparent elections in the district.


The Political Parties were apprised of various IT election apps for complaint and grievance redressal, for flagging any violations in order to make the process more transparent.


The meeting was also attended by Nodal Officer, Expenditure Monitoring, representatives and district heads of various national, recognised, registered parties and other concerned staff.
