Extra-curricular activities must for overall development of children: Kavinder

Inaugurates 20-day long Summer Children’s workshop

JAMMU, June 14: Kavinder Gupta, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister said that along with academics, extra-curricular activities are must for the overall development of the children.

The former Deputy Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating 20-day long summer workshop comprising Painting, Dance and Theatre workshops today at K.L Saigal Hall in the premises of JKAACL, Jammu. On the occasion, Bharat Singh, Secretary JKAACL, participating children from various educational institutions and their parents were present.

After lightening the traditional lamp, Gupta congratulated the Cultural Academy for organising special activities in view of summer vacation and also wished the children very best for learning the basics of various arts like Music, Dance, Theatre and painting from the seasoned artists of national reputations of Academy and outside who are experts in their respective fields.  He said through this workshop, the children will have the opportunity to explore and excel in the different fields of their choice and will also interact with other children on the single platform.

Kavinder emphasized the importance of extra-curricular activities in the curriculum of children. He said that such activities are crucial for the holistic development of children and aid in their personal growth.  He asked educational institutions and parents to prioritize extra-curricular activities and provide students with ample opportunities to explore their interests and passions.

Earlier, the 20-day long summer workshop was commenced under the able guidance of Bharat Singh, Secretary JKAACL.

Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, SDI, JKAACL and in-charge Divisional Office Jammu, said that the aim of workshop was not to produce painters, dancers and actors but to sensitize the participating children about their surroundings for being good human beings with the blend of courage, confidence and sensitivity and inspiration through actively participating in various arts.

Dr. Shahnawaz, Editor-cum-Culture Officer Gojri, while presenting vote of thanks, congratulated the children and their parents for using the holidays in a meaningful purpose as such workshops provide an opportunity to think logically and also develop sensitivity towards art, literature and culture besides human values.

The internal experts are Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Anil Tickoo, Sanjeev Gupta, Bhupinder Singh and Pankaj Gupta while Ankush, Akash Dogra, Neeraj Kant, Suresh Kumar, Rakesh Kona and Divam have been engaged from outside.
