Extra-ordinary medical evacuation carried out in far flung Gujran area of Tulail

Dist Admin Bandipora performs most difficult operation so far to evacuate critically ill patient

BANDIPORA, February 16: The District Administration Bandipora on Wednesday performed the most difficult operation so far to evacuate a critically ill female patient from Gujran hamlet of Gurez valley close to Line of Control.

After receiving an SOS about a critically ill patient in the remote village of Gujran who needed immediate evacuation for better medical treatment, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais directed for airlifting the patient from Snowbound village.

After hectic preparations and in-depth planning with ARYANS – the Helicopter Services Company, especially its Manager, the helicopter managed a successful landing in Gujran hamlet and evacuated the patient.

The village is one of the remotest villages of Gurez valley and falls near the line of control besides being an avalanche prone area. More than 10 feet of snow has accumulated in the village thereby cutting its communication with the rest of the world.

The patient was shifted to Bandipora where a critical care ambulance was already placed near the helipad where from the patient was shifted to district hospital Bandipora for treatment.

Doctors said the patient was in need of immediate medical aid that was not possible in the remote village.

The locals appreciated the District Administration for timely intervention to save the life of a patient.
