“Fake narrative…there was dar ka mahool”: Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde on Lok Sabha results
New Delhi [India], August 18 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday said that the Opposition propagated a “fake narrative” during the Lok Sabha polls, and because of that people got scared and there was “dar ka mahool” among the people during the recently concluded general elections 2024.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, CM Shinde said that jb tak suraj chaand rahaiga Baba Saheb ka Constitution rahaiga.
“In the Lok Sabha elections, there was a fake narrative that, the Constitution would change. Reservations will be snatched from the people. In many societies, an atmosphere of fear was created. The Opposition said if Modi ji comes, then this will happen, that will happen. And this fake narrative, its penetration went very deep. And it gripped the minds of people with fear. The Constitution was made by Babasaheb Ambedkar ji like I always say ‘jb tak suraj chaand rahaiga Baba Saheb ka Constitution rahaiga’. But they (Opposition) kept spreading fake narrative among the people and people took that in a wrong way,” Shinde said.
When asked about the ‘400 paar slogan’, the Maharashtra CM admitted that the workers of the party became relaxed and some inappropriate statements were made that were not needed.
“Yes, because of the 400-pass slogan, the workers become a little relaxed. That we are getting 400 paar and in flow, they gave some statements which they should not have made because of that these people got scared and there was dar ka maahool among them. But the Lok Sabha elections are different. There are different statistics.
And the Vidhan Sabha elections are different. So definitely, that election is over now. The election is over, the matter is over, we have forgotten about it,’ he added.
CM Shinde further said that the Vidhan Sabha elections are localized and issues that were raised during the Lok Sabha elections will not be raised.
“The Vidhan Sabha elections are localized. They are at the state level. And the central issues are not there,” he said.
In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the INDIA bloc partners seized every opportunity to challenge the Narendra Modi-led NDA government.
The opposition said that if the Bharatiya Janata Party got 400 plus seats then they would change the Constitution and will remove the reservation.
Congress fought the election as part of the INDIA bloc and the parties together were able to prevent BJP from getting a majority on its own in Lok Sabha. The BJP-led NDA won 293 in the polls.
In the Lok Sabha polls in 2024, the BJP did not cross the majority mark, bagging 240 seats. The Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong improvement, winning 99 seats. While the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won 293 seats, the INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark, posing stiff competition, and defying all predictions.
