Farmers of Panchayat Trewa learn about PM Kusum
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 27: A camp to promote the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyaan (PM-KUSUM) scheme was held today at Panchayat Trewa of block Miran Sahib to help farmers adopt green energy and improve their livelihoods.
The camp was organised on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, who had issued directives to this effect during his visit to the border Panchayat of Arnia.
The day-long event featured demonstration sessions and an exhibition. The empanelled vendor specialising in the solar water pumps was on hand to provide guidance about their operation.
The participants of the event were informed that the government, through the Jammu & Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), provides 80 percent subsidy for the installation of solar water pumps. These solar-powered pumps not only contribute to the proliferation of green energy but also operate seamlessly during electricity shortages. The potential to double farmers’ income through this initiative adds an extra layer of significance to the program.
The awareness session was led by Regional Officer JAKEDA, Deepak Sharma, in the presence of SDM Jammu South, Atul Dutt Sharma. The camp received participation from Panchayati Raj Institutions from Trewa and its neighbouring panchayats and the public.
The PM-KUSUM scheme facilitates installation of solar pumps and grid-connected solar and renewable power plants for farmers. The Jammu & Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), is responsible for implementing the PM-KUSUM scheme throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
Notable attendees at the event included the Sarpanch Trewa, other PRI representatives, BDO Miran Sahib, Gurjeet Singh and District Officer JAKEDA, among others.
