Farooq taking refuge in myths & lies to save skin in Kashmir politics: Kavinder
JAMMU Aug 19: Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta on Saturday termed the description made by NC Patron Farooq Abdullah on history of Kashmir especially the inception of Islam as pieces of fiction collocation claiming that only a small portion is true and rest is all stunning imagination of former chief minister as it has nothing to do with the facts.
In a statement issued to media persons, Kavinder castigated the octogenarian leader belonging to NC party for sharing the ‘history’ of Kashmir as per his convenience as the same was nothing but a concocted version created by former chief minister’s whims and fancies. He said that it is strange that the aged politician who played politics in Kashmir for a long time and is still active, has so little knowledge about the past of the region.
Kavinder made a point that chances are there that Farooq knows it well that what he has been averring on the advent of Islam in Kashmir is a white lie but it is his compulsion to present the history in this manner to satiate his party’s vested political aspirations because what the real history says is in total contradiction because it was invaders who held forced conversion in the region and the theory narrated by NC leader is totally fabricated as it is marred with gaps which are irreparable and tell without fail about its hollowness.
The senior BJP leader said that it is unfortunate that NC leadership has to take refuge in ‘myths’ and ‘lies’ to fool the public as the truth is against them and is damaging the image and scope of NC to the hilt.
It is pertinent to mention that while interacting with media persons, Dr Farooq Abdullah has claimed that before Islam many people converted to Buddhism in Valley and then the people who earlier belonged to lower Brahmin clans switched over to Islam to get rid of a divided society created by higher caste Hindu Brahmins.
