First National Lok Adalat of Calendar year 2023 held at Kathua

KATHUA, FEBRUARY 11: Under the directions of Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, Justice Tashi Rabstan,  (also Acting Chief Justice of High Court of J&K and Ladakh) and able guidance of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Kathua, Jaffer Hussain Beg, first National Lok Adalat of the calendar year 2023 was held today in District Courts Complex Kathua.

The proceedings of National Lok Adalat were inaugurated by Chairman, DLSA Kathua Jaffer Hussain Beg (District & Sessions Judge, Kathua) by lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

A total of 1889 cases were taken up for amicable settlement out of which 1647 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 20083688 was realized as settlement amount.

 Seven Benches were constituted for settling the referred cases. Bench No. 1 comprised of Manjeet Singh Manhas, Addll. District & Sessions Judge, Kathua and Cheena Sumbria, Munsiff JMIC, Kathua; Bench No. 2 was comprising of  Swati Gupta, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kathua and Surinder Kumar Thappa, Special Mobile Magistrate, Kathua; Bench No. 3 was comprising of Shilpa Dogra, District Mobile Magistrate, Kathua and  Atul Gupta, Addll. Deputy Commissioner, Kathua; Bench No. 4 was comprising of Jeevan Kumar Sharma, Munsiff JMIC, Basohli, Advocate Shub Kumar, President, Bar Association Basohli; Bench No. 5 was comprising of Jyoti Bhagat, Munsiff JMIC, Billawar and Adv. Surinder Kumar Reothia, Panel Lawyer, TLSC Billawar; Bench No. 6  comprising Rajni Bhagat, Munsiff JMIC, Mahanpur and Daljit Singh, Advocate, Mahanpur. Bench No. 7 was comprising Girja Shavan, Munsiff JMIC, Hiranagar and Adv. Thakur Ranjit Singh, President, Bar Association, Hiranagar.

The matters placed before the Benches included Civil, Criminal Compoundable, Cheque Bounce, Recovery matters, BSNL, 138 NI Act, 125 CrPC, Revenue matters, MACT, Matrimonial, Public Utility Services, Pre-litigation matters and also Traffic challans.

Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Kathua  Rekha Kapoor Nishcal, coordinated the proceedings  of the National Lok Adalat.
