First Phase EVM Randomization conducted for six Kathua District Assembly segments

KATHUA, AUGUST 24: The first phase of randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the upcoming Assembly Elections-2024 was conducted today here under the supervision of District Election Officer, Kathua Dr. Rakesh Minhas (DC). The event took place in the presence of designated Returning Officers of all six constituencies and representatives from the political parties.


The randomization allocated a total of 141 EVMs for 94 Polling Stations for 63-Bani, 195 EVMs for 130 Polling Stations for 64-Bani, 160 EVMs for 107 Polling Stations for 65-Basohli, 198 EVMs for 132 Polling Stations for 66-Jasrota, 196 EVMs for 131 Polling Stations for 67-Kathua and 165 EVMs for 110 Polling Stations of 68 Hiranagar assembly constituency.


Dr. Rakesh Minhas highlighted that the primary objective of the randomization process is to ensure transparent, free, and fair elections devoid of any human intervention. The randomization was carried out using dedicated software designed for this purpose.


Before the randomization took place, the District Election Officer briefed political representatives about the process, reassuring them of the comprehensive arrangements in place to guarantee fair polls.


Subsequent randomization phases will determine the specific allocation of EVMs to polling stations in the upcoming phases.


The list of EVMs post randomisation were handed over to all political parties present.


Among others present were ADC Kathua Ranjit Singh, Nodal Officer EVM Nagesh Singh and DIO NIC Vevek Sharma were also present.
