First Phase EVM Randomization held at Samba
SAMBA, AUGUST 24: The first phase of randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the upcoming Assembly Elections 2024 was successfully conducted on Saturday in district Samba.
The process was carried out under the supervision of District Election Officer (DEO) Rajesh Sharma, in the presence of ADC Jagdish Singh, Nodal Officer EVM Management Dr. Subash Chander, and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) of the 69-Ramgarh Sunaina Saini, 70-Samba Kusum Chib, and 71-Vijaypur Umesh Sharma, assembly segments. Senior officers and representatives from various political parties were also present.
DEO Rajesh Sharma briefed the participants on the randomization process, emphasizing its role in ensuring the fairness and integrity of the electoral process.
He highlighted that randomization helps prevent any potential bias or manipulation in the assignment of EVMs, thereby ensuring that each polling station receives its machines impartially.
The randomization was conducted using dedicated software designed to allocate Ballot Units, Control Units, and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units for the three assembly segments: 69-Ramgarh, 70-Samba, and 71-Vijaypur.
Following the randomization, the list of EVMs was handed over to the representatives of the political parties present. It was also disclosed that subsequent phases of randomization will determine the specific allocation of EVMs to individual polling stations.
