First Sub-Committee of parliament Official Language Reviews Rajbhasha Implementation appreciates CUJ
September 27: An inspection of Central University of Jammu by the first sub-committee of the Parliamentary Official language (OL) Committee was organized in Srinagar to review the work of official language Hindi. During this Interaction, the Parliamentary OL Committee inspected a total of 26 Offices located in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Parliamentary Official Language Committee was constituted in 1976 under the Official Language Act, 1963. This is a high-powered parliamentary committee. It consists of 30 Members of Parliament, including 20 from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha.
The main objective of the committee is to review the progress of the use of official language Hindi in the functioning of the government offices. The official meeting of the committee, held in Srinagar, was chaired by Sh. Ramchandra Jangra, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) while Sh. Dhamendra Kashyap was one of the key members in the committee. Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Sh. Iranna Kadadi, Member of Parliament, (Rajya Sabha), Sh. Shyam Singh Yadav, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Sh. Dharamraj Khatik, Parliamentary Official Language Committee Office member and others were present.
During the inspection of Central University of Jammu, the committee appreciates the efforts being made by the Vice-Chancellor CUJ, Prof. Sanjeev Jain in the promotion and implementation of Hindi and expressed satisfaction that the University has worked as per the official language rules. The committee expressed hope that in future the university will be able to do its work completely in Hindi. The committee asked other Participated offices to take inspiration from CUJ.
On the occasion, an exhibition related to the official language was also organized by the central university of Jammu, which was highly acknowledged.
After inspection by the parliamentary committee, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jain said that Central University of Jammu is situated in ‘C’ zone as per the official language rules and various languages including Hindi,Urdu, Dogri, Kashmiri and Punjabi have their own place and importance.
Prof. Jain said that the love of Hindi and Dogri of the land of Jammu is not hidden from anyone. He said that it is our responsibility to ensure that the official language policy is followed by the CUJ. He said that Hindi is not the first language of most of the administrative employees working in the university, yet the employees of the university are committed to promote the official language Hindi and follow the responsibilities of their official language policy to the best of their abilities. We are adopting the policy of motivation and encouragement in the university, we train the employees to work in Hindi and encourage them to work in Hindi on their own and we are watching their effect
