Five Day Farmers Centric Training Programme commenced at Poonch Campus
University of Jammu to setup silk industry at Poonch : Director Poonch Campus
POONCH March 28 : In order to provide information,/Training about the latest techniques in Sericulture, a “Five Day Farmers Centric Training Programme” commenced at Village Dingla Poonch w.e.f. March 28th to April 01st, 2023.
The five day training programme is part of Annual Academic Calendar 2023-2024, the programme is being organised in collaboration with SKC-GDC Poonch is organizing “Five Day Farmers Centric Training Programme.
Director Poonch Campus Prof. Dipankar Sengupta was the Chief Guest during the inaugural function while as Principal SKC-GDC Poonch was Guest of Honour.
People representatives of the Sarpanch and Panches from Village Dingla and its adjoining areas were part of this Training Programme.
In his inaugural address, Director Poonch Campus Prof. Dipankar Sengupta while congratulating both the MoU Coordinators of Poonch Campus and SKC-GDC Poonch said that such farmers training programme are aimed at providing information viz a viz training to the farmers about the latest techniques being used for the promotion of Sericulture. He hoped that farmers and students will definitely get benefitted from this week-long training program as expert resource persons the field of Sericulture will interact with farmers and students of both Poonch campus and SKC-GDC.
He further said that as per the new education policy, we have take all the stakeholders on board. “We are committed to take all the stakeholders on board such as students, farmers, people of the area and elected representatives of the area,” he said further adding that to boost the sericulture in twin border districts Rajouri and Poonch, we will definitely workout a plan to setup silk industry at Poonch Campus.
Principal SKC GDC Poonch Prof. Jasbir Singh in his address thanked Director Poonch Campus for Signing MoU with SKC GDC Poonch.
He said that Prof. Dipankar Sengupta has a vision to promote Sericulture at Poonch and SKC-GDC is committed to work in close coordination with University of Jammu’s Poonch Campus. “Both Poonch Campus and SKC-GDC will work together to establish the silk industry at Poonch,” he added.
Prof. Gurvinder Raj Verma MOU Coordinator and HoD Department of Sericulture SKC-GDC Poonch said that the main objective of the MoU is to work on a same plateform to aware the farmers about the Sericulture. The main stakeholders of this programme are farmers, students and resource persons. He also stated that that this could be viewed as an important step for strengthening the bivoltine sericulture industry in J&K.
Dr Muzafar Mir Scientist Horticulture KVK Poonch SKUAST-J who was resource person in today’s sessions said that this five days Centric Training Programme is important in many aspects as this will benefit the farmers in many ways. “During this training programme, the farmers will trained how to use latest technology to increase their financial income. All the farmers will be informed and trained about the latest techniques being adopted in Sericulture,” he said adding further that the MoU signed between Poonch Campus and SKC GDC Poonch will go a long way in promoting the Sericulture and Silk industry in the area.
Ms. Avinder Kour Incharge Poonch Circle, Poonch she was also Resource Person congratulated both the educational institutions for coming together for the promotion of Sericulture and silk industry in the area. She said that farmers can avail different government schemes and can improve their financial conditions.
Dr Rubia Bukhari Coordinator MoU and Campus officer Poonch Campus in her keynote address thanked all the stakeholders for making this Training Programme successful. “After the Signing of MoU with GDC Poonch, an annual academic calendar 2023-24 was prepared and todays activity is part of that academic calendar. During the current academic session many many activities will be organized in which all the stakeholders will be taken on board,” She said adding further that during this training programme attempts will be made to provide maximum information to the farmers about the importance of Sericulture and its benefits through renowned experts and resourse persons.
Present on the occasion were Incharge Department of Sericulture Dr. Suraksha Chanotra, Miss Kalpna Sudan, Miss Sumya Kapoor; non teaching staff members DoS PCJU Mr Mohd Sageer, Mr Sandeep and Mr Arjun, officials of KVK Poonch, officials of State Department of Sericulture.
